A washed, single origin coffee. Light-medium roast, with notes of Lemon, peach and milk chocolate.
Description
The coffee comes from the areas of Bududa, Kapchorwa, Bulambuli, Mbale and Sironko.
Once the coffees reach around 15-16% moisture, they are brought to Norman's offices in Mbale where the coffees are inspected for green out-turn (expected % of green coffee from parchment) and moisture content - so the farmer can be given a price estimate.
The lead farmers then dry the coffees down to < MC 12% under the supervision of "The Coffee Yard". This drying is done at the Mbale Drying Yard shared by TCG and TCY. Once the coffee is dried, it is reinspected, cupped and purchased.
Once bought, the coffee is hand sorted to remove under-ripe coffees that are still in pods, then milled and graded and then finally passed through a gravity table and colour sorter. TCG inspects 100% of the bags, then bags the coffee in grainpro and gunny bags, ready for export
Origin
Uganda is situated in East Africa. It's terrain encompasses everything from the snowy peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains to the vast expanse that is Lake Victoria. Indigenous wildlife includes chimpanzees and rare species of bird.
Uganda has a tropical climate. Temperatures range from 25-29°C apart from in the mountainous areas, which are much cooler. With volcanic soils, high altitude and an abundance of shade trees, the Mount Elgon Region in Eastern Uganda has the potential to produce world renowned specialty coffee.Details
