Rwanda Coproca 1215 Single Origin Coffee Beans | Natural Process
Rwanda Coproca 1215 Single Origin Coffee Beans
A natural, single origin coffee. Light-medium roast, with notes of rhubarb, lemon and brown sugar.
Description
Located in Kanjongo Sector in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District, this washing station is privately operated by C.Dorman Rwanda and works with 603 smallholder farmers growing coffee at elevations between 1,830 and 1,950 meters above sea level.
The coffee is naturally processed using carefully selected ripe cherries that are slowly dried on raised beds for up to 40 days, helping develop a sweet, fruit-forward cup profile. The station also supports farmers through agricultural training and seedling distribution programs.
Origin
Rwanda has ideal growing conditions for coffee: high altitude, regular rainfall and volcanic soils with good organic structure.
The majority of Rwandan coffee is produced by around half a million smallholders with tiny patches of land often not much larger than one hectare. Coffee is grown in most parts of the country but, it is concentrated along Lake Kivu and the southern province.
Rwandan smallholders organise themselves into farmer cooperatives. They share the services of centralised washing stations (also known as wet mills).
