UK Coffee Week 2019: Celebrate Coffee, Support Coffee Growers.

UK Coffee Week 2019

UK Coffee Week runs from 29th April to 5th May 2019. It is a celebration of great British coffee culture, but did you know it also raises funds for coffee growing communities?

Project Waterfall is a charitable initiative developed by the Allegra Foundation to bring clean water, sanitation and education to the communities which grow our coffee. Since 2011, Project Waterfall has raised over £1 million.

This year, all funds raised will contribute to ongoing work in the rural Jabi Tehnan district of Ethiopia. Continuing work first begun in 2018, in partnership with WaterAid UK, and with the aim of bringing clean drinking water and sanitation to 10,000 people in the area over the next 3 years.

Celebrate good coffee and support coffee growing communities

Specifically, this year Bean Smitten are running two events:

  • A ticketed evening event aimed at newcomers to speciality coffee. Tickets cost just £15 each but, space is limited to 10 persons. See here for details

  • An 'Open House' event running, Wednesday 1st May - Saturday 4th May. Visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee, a slice of cake and some UK Coffee Week themed activities. Hours: Wed-Fri: 11am - 3pm. Sat: 9.30am - 12pm.

We'll be donating 10% from every ticket sold for our evening event, 10p from every cup of coffee and 50p from every bag of coffee sold during our 'open house' event.

It is also possible to donate £3 (the cost of a cup of coffee) directly to Project Waterfall by texting ‘COFFEE’ to 70331.

Please help Bean Smitten to spread the word by sharing your coffee images from the using #UKCOFFEEWEEK  and #MyCupMatters

Look out for further updates on our social media channels.

Thanks!
