Dipilto is one of the best quality areas in Nicaragua, with relatively high altitude and fertile soils. El triunfo is owned by Jose Luis Maldonado. He inherited the small farm from his father and lives on the farm with his family. The farm is just 3.5 hectares and is planted with catuai, caturra and lempira varietals at altitudes of over 1400 masl.
Nicaragua is a large but sparsley populated country in Central America. It is a small-scale producer of hiqh quality coffees. The country's coffee output accounts for around 1.4% of world production.
Key coffee producing regions are located in the north-west of the country near the border with Honduras. Farmers typically have plots of not more than 3 hectares each. They farm a wide selection of Arabica sub-varieties including Catuai, Bourbon and Pacamara.
