    Drink it: We recommend a filter method, such as drip, pour over or aeropress. Also works well as espresso and in small milk drinks such as flat-whites. Try it with your favourite brew method.

    • The Rodriguez family started their business in 1986. To start with they rented rent wet mills in the Caranavi region, and bought in coffee cherries from up to 2,000 different producers.

      In 2001 they built their own wet mill, Buena Vista, followed by a dry mill in La Paz. In 2013, they decided to buy land and start growing their own coffee. They now have 8 farms in the Caranavi region, including Arcangel and 5 farms in the Samaipata region.

      Around 300 people are employed by the Family in peak season. The farm comprises 4 hectares fully planted with coffee trees of 4 varieties: Red, Yellow Caturra, Red and Yellow Catuai all under native tree shade.

      Arcangel was re-planted in 2015 and the first beans were harvested in 2017. The cherries are taken to Buena Vista Mill the same day where they are honey processed. After some mechanical pulping that removes part of the pulp, the beans are transferred to raised beds for 3-4 days before being dried in mechanical dryers.

      The coffee is then bagged and sent to the dry mill in La Paz. The lots sit there in parchment until they are milled for export.

    • Compared to its neighbours and indeed, worldwide, Bolivia is a relatively small producer of coffee. However, it's a case of quality over quantity, with farmers working hard, using predominately natural methods and overcoming obstacles such as difficult terrain to bring their crop to market.
